READ AN EBOOK WEEK

In a big win for the eBook industry, brick and mortar giant Barnes and Noble has purchased the eBook retailer Fictionwise. My thoughts, this is BN’s attempt to adapt and overcome or risk death and defeat from online giant Amazon.com who embraced the eBook market with it’s Kindle. Whatever the reason, it validates that the day of the eBook is coming, (like it or not you diehard print book readers).

The announcement of the BN/Fictionwise purchase comes just in time for Read an eBook Week (March 8-14th).

To celebrate Read an eBook Week, the Samhain Cafe is hosting a special reader appreciation week with hourly eBook giveaways and a grand prize contest for an eReader. Stop by the Samhain Cafe yahoo group all week and talk to the authors, read excerpts and hopefully win some stuff! On a personal note, I finally gave in and bought myself the iPod Touch and I LOVE it. I installed the free Stanza eBook reader on it, I loaded it with songs, pictures and eBooks and I keep it in my purse. When I am waiting and have a moment, I can whip it out and read. I never ever thought I would enjoy reading on a tiny device’s screen but I really do like it. And it does so many other things I can’t even begin to list them all here. So there, I now practice what I preach!
