Q: Is the current Red, Hot & Blue series from Samhain the same as the out of print Linden Bay Romance Task Force Zeta Series?
A: Yes-reedited, in some cases expanded, but basically the same.
Q: Task Force Zeta was only military romance, but Red, Hot & Blue includes Jared, who is not.
A: Correct. The original LBR series had a spinoff (Smalltown, USA) featuring the characters and town from the military books. We’ve chosen to combine all the books under the series title RHB.
Q: Will all the out of print books be rereleased?
A: Yes, in eBook first, in print later one, but it will take some time.
Q: Is JARED the original title for this book?
A: No. Jared’s story was THE HORSEMAN in Smalltown, USA.
Q: Will Deputy Bobby Barton from JARED get his own story?
A: YES, it’s just been contracted as well as Lizzie Barton’s story w/ her hero COLE. All 3 books have the over arcing storyline of the reality show filming taking over the town.
Q: Were Bobby and Cole’s stories in print before?
A: Yes, they were originally THE DEPUTY and THE BALLPLAYER in Smalltown, USA
Q: Will you get back to the rest of the military men?
A: Yes, A FEW GOOD MEN has been contracted as Book 7 in the RHB series. The rest of Task Force Zeta (The Commander, Bull and Matt’s stories) are all coming, as are MODEL SOLDIER and A PRINCE AMONG MEN. It just takes some time.

Another of my out-of-print “early” works, vintage 2006 Cat Johnson, if you will. This was my first romance ever contracted. I brushed it up a bit, tried to purge it of all my bad writing habits I thankfully since have outgrown, and I’m rereleasing it in digital only through AllRomance.com, Amazon.com, BN.com and Smashwords.com. All Romance has it now, and it’ll be up in a few days at the others. I’ll post links as I get them. Just beware the story has not changed so if you owned the original release Trilogy 102: Opposites Attract from Linden Bay, don’t buy this version.

Before There Were Cowboys…

Just Desserts Cat JohnsonLong before I ever considered writing about uber alpha cowboys who are bull riders or ropers there were nerds. Believe it or not, my first stories were about computer geeks and the women who loved them.

No menages. No piggin strings. Just one-on-one romances about women–close girl friends–struggling to get through life, and the men they stumble upon along the way.

These first stories I wrote and published in 2006-7 would most closely fall into the romantic comedy genre I think. Sensual, but not nearly as scorching as the cowboy threesomes you’ve come to expect from me.

That doesn’t mean I don’t love these stories too. You’ll probably see most closely into my real life by reading them. The stars of Just Desserts are based in name and personality on my two actual friends Donna and Grace, and some of the incredible things that come out of their mouths in the book are actual quotes from real life. Grace’s proclamation “I’d rather be poor than unfashionable” is one example.

Just Desserts has been out of print for a while, but it’s back now, brushed up and with a fresh new cover and available at All Romance now for download in multiple formats, at Amazon for Kindle and Barnes & Noble for Nook.

Bucked in Paperback! Let’s Buck!

Bucked (Studs in Spurs, Book 2) officially releases in paperback tomorrow which means you may (fingers crossed) actually come across it on a shelf at a bookstore near you. You definitely will find it at all the online booksellers such as Borders, BN and Amazon.

But wait, you’re saying, I thought this book is out already. Yes it is, but only in eBook. The publisher likes to leave a ten month lag between the eBook release and the release of the trade paperback.

Why do they do that? Waiting sucks, you may be saying. Well, here’s the thing. It’s kind of like how in high fashion the new spring designer lines are shown at the fall fashion shows so the stores have time to order them for the following year.

I used to totally agree that waiting (and having to promo the same book for two separate release dates) sucks, until just a few months ago when people started to email and text me pictures of my UNRIDDEN (Studs in Spurs, Book 1) on actual bookstore shelves at BNs and Borders. That ten month delay gives the booksellers time to shop for and order the books releasing later in the year. I even had an indie bookseller in Syracuse, NY ask me to send them promo for Bucked so I have great hopes it too will be shelved. Apparently the system works so who am I to argue? To a little author with an indie pub like me, getting actual shelf space in a brick and mortar large chain bookstore or even a small indie bookstore is AMAZING!!

So here I am, promoting Bucked once again and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. The amateur bull rider I sponsor just received his second batch of Let’s Buck stickers to distribute at all the rodeos he rides in in Oklahoma. I co-sponsored Makin’ 8‘s trip to Las Vegas for the National Rodeo Finals (NFR) and they are there this week reporting back live on all the cowboy goings-on there. And of course I’ll be visible on the web talking about Bucked for those who care to listen.  Deja vu all over again, but it is no hardship to revisit Mustang, the hero of Bucked. Hope you feel the same.
