Dammit. Now she wanted him again.
As he smiled and moved toward her, she had a feeling she might get exactly what she wanted. He lifted her up and set her on the counter just to the side of all his breakfast preparations.
Stepping in between her thighs, Wade moved in for a kiss. At the same time he ran his hand up the inside of her thigh.
“What about the bacon?” she asked, not really caring.
“It’ll hold. I’m hungry for something else.” He moved to nibbling on her neck while slipping his other hand inside her robe to fondle her breast. “Mmm, I like this easy access attire.”
Leaning back, he untied the belt and pushed open the sides of her robe to feast on her breasts. One tug on her nipple with his mouth and she was a goner. She exhaled on a moan.
She felt him smile against her breast. The man truly enjoyed making her lose control. She should probably be grateful for that. It meant he tried to do it often. Her pleasure had never really been John’s concern.
The sound of a gasp brought CeCe’s head around.
Her housekeeper stood wide-eyed in the doorway. “Mrs. Cole.”
CeCe pushed Wade back and yanked the sides of her robe together, tying the belt tight. “Maria.”
Shit. CeCe had lost track of the time. Wade was quite the distraction.
It was Tuesday and Maria worked Tuesday through Saturday, but CeCe didn’t realize it was late enough for her to be here already.
“What time is it? Are you early?”
“No, ma’am. It’s almost eight. You say I must be here by eight to make your coffee before you leave for work.”
She couldn’t fault her employee. Those were Maria’s instructions, but today, work was the dead last thing on CeCe’s mind.
She got a glimpse of Wade’s amused expression as he remained right where he had been, between her legs, preventing her from getting down off the counter.
He didn’t seem at all disturbed that he was standing in the kitchen wearing nothing but underwear and sporting a hard-on that Maria would have to be blind to miss.
Meanwhile, Maria looked at a complete loss at what to do and where to look as she diverted her gaze to the ceiling and then the floor.
CeCe had to get herself together. It was bad enough she hadn’t gone into the office yesterday, and today wasn’t looking promising for work either. The least she could do was maintain control in her own household with her staff.
“Coffee and breakfast are already made so why don’t you go do whatever else you were going to do today?”
“I wash the sheets on Tuesdays.”
“Good. Go do that.” CeCe jumped on the task that would put Maria at the other end of the house.
Wade let out a soft laugh. “Good idea.”
He was no doubt thinking the same thing she was. How sweaty and—God help her—full of spilled lube those bed sheets would be. After yesterday, they needed washing.
“Yes, ma’am.” With one more quick glance at Wade and CeCe, sitting on the counter where she’d never ever sat before, Maria spun and left the room.
“Oh my God.” CeCe let out a deep breath. He grinned, making her mad enough to slap his arm. “It’s not funny.”
“It’s very funny. A few minutes later and she would have gotten even more of an eyeful because I was fixin’ to get creative with the maple syrup. And now that I think about it, that there bacon grease has all sorts of potential.”
“CeCe!” He mocked her before turning serious. “Your divorce is final. Right?”
“Yes. Of course.”
“Then as a single adult you’re allowed to live a little.”
“Let it go. Don’t make me distract you.” His tone held a warning.
She could only imagine what distraction he’d come up with this time.
If she didn’t do as he asked she could find herself tied spread eagle to the table and covered in syrup. If not being violated by Wade with the help of bacon grease.
She glared at him until, shaking his head, he moved in between her legs again.
“CeCe, you heard Maria. She’s going to be busy cleaning our sex sheets. I can, and I will, take you right here, right now. Don’t think I won’t. So get rid of that attitude.”
She didn’t doubt it. Wade always seemed to get his way, no matter what she wanted. Or thought she wanted.
John had been a pussy when it came to the bedroom. She didn’t quite know what to do with a man with a dominant personality—except give in.
And enjoy it. Though she’d never admit that to Wade.
He waited patiently, watching her for her answer as to whether she was going to relax and enjoy their meal or if he’d have to force her to have sex in the kitchen while Maria was just down the hall.
Quite honestly, his threat excited her. Just as much as her picturing how creative Wade might get with the various items in the kitchen at his disposal.
Damn man. He’d perverted her without her giving him permission to do so . . . and had made her come harder than she ever had in her life yesterday.
Scowling, CeCe sighed. “Okay. Fine. I’ll stop worrying. Just keep that bacon grease away from me.”
Wade lifted a brow. “Just hearing that come out of your pretty little mouth is giving me ideas so I really can’t make any promises.”
CeCe sighed deep even as her ass clenched at the thought of him sliding inside her. “You’re incredibly trying. You know that?”
“Right back at ya, beautiful.” He grinned and then took a step back. Reaching for a frying pan, he glanced in her direction. “Now, how do you like your eggs?”

Erotic Romance reached a whole new level of exposure this week when erotic author Sylvia Day (who I can say I knew back when) and also “the author who shall not be named” were questions on ABC’s daytime game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Sadly, I knew the answer but could not play from here at home, and the cat, the only one here at the time, was not impressed when I squealed and said “I know her!”.
Next up–the Keep Calm and Eat Bologna magnets arrived at Josephs Fine Foods in Drumright, Oklahoma. Let the promo ho-ing begin! For those who missed it, there is a close association between Joseph’s Fried Bologna Sandwich and a certain sexy scene in my up coming release One Night with a Cowboy. Read the story HERE . If you’re near Drumright, stop by and grab one if there are any left. Swag tends to go VERY fast there at Josephs. The “Keep Calm and Eat Bologna” pencils and the Got Heroes? can koozies both flew out the door.
One month out from official release and ONE NIGHT WITH A COWBOY is kicking butt on preorder at Barnes & Noble. I discovered I was the #8 hottest trending Nook book (for a little while anyway) and today, I was #4 in the Contemporary Romance- Cowboys category amid some incredible company. Things move fast in the best seller rankings but so far so good! Go, BN!
One thing that may have hoisted me up the ranks was this PUBLISHERS WEEKLY REVIEW! I am proud to have my One Night with a Cowboy declared ‘sex-centric’ and “satisfying” by this most esteemed publication and I wear it as a badge of honor! LOL Actually, this is the full quote, but I enjoy sex-centric and satisfying so much, I may have it made into a T-Shirt!
“Johnson alternates between Tucker’s sex-centric narration and Becca’s more emotion-focused perspective, both of which are convincing and satisfying.” Publishers Weekly
And finally, I was thrilled to see my Studs in Spurs series featured alongside my fellow Samhain Publishing cowboy series authors by USA Today’s Happy Ever After blog. How amazing is that?! They featured the first book in three different cowboy series. The reviewer said about UNRIDDEN, “Mustang and Slade are sweet and intense, and I really wanted to be Jenna.” Jessie Potts, USA Today
Add to that 2 incredible reader emails within a 12 hour period, both telling me how much they are loving reading my Studs in Spurs, a few great reviews and ratings for my upcoming One Night with a Cowboy from Kensington, the over 10K words I’ve written in my Oklahoma Nights Book 3 over the past few days, and I’d say it’s been a pretty satisfying week!
Thanks for sharing it with me!
Yes, this is how this business works. It’s still the last quarter of 2012 but I’m already paid and registered with a room booked and promo purchased for a convention next August. The registration for Authors After Dark 2013, to be held on the riverfront in lovely Savannah, GA, is selling out quickly and I think they hope to be completely filled by December this year, so here I am, posting about it now because they are holding a fabulous promotion. Check out the official post for details HERE but in a nutshell, there are free registrations and lots of prizes up for grabs during their registration drive, now through December 24th.
Also happening now for next August’s convention is voting for the Bookie Awards. I’ve been honored to be nominated by the convention attendees for 3 years running now. I’ve won for my books in my Contemporary Western series Studs in Spurs two years in a row, and I’m nominated again this year in the Western Romance category for 2 books in that series, and also in the Best Anthology category for Cowboy Lust (out through Cleis Press, edited by Delilah Devlin with a forward by Lorelei James). The full list of nominations is HERE‘
Voting is open today! Go forth and vote for your favorites at http://authorsafterdark.blogspot.com/2012/10/2013-authors-after-dark-bookie-awards.html
I’ve been getting questions about what’s coming next from me in my current series, so I figured I’d do a quick review here. I’ve grouped it by series, rather than chronologically.
Model Soldier (Red, Hot & Blue, Book 8) is my next release. Coming from Samhain Publishing it is scheduled for December. You can read the blurb here. I’ve already proofed the final file so I expect it to be up on preorder any day now. I’ll let you know when it is. It is category length at approximately 54,000 words and will be released first as an eBook, and then as a trade paperback the following year. It is a standalone story featuring a new character as the hero, as well as an Army platoon in Afghanistan. However, the Task Force Zeta SpecOp characters you know and love from other Red, Hot & Blue series books play a role in the story. Though the story stands alone, you will want to grab the free 10,000 word bonus read BB DALTON to fully appreciate the back story of Model Soldier. It’s available free here at my site, from Amazon for Kindle, at KOBO, on Barnes & Noble for Nook, on the iBookstore / iTunes for iPhone/iPad, and from AllRomance.com and Smashwords in multiple formats with no geographical restrictions.
Next from the Red, Hot & Blue series is PRINCE AMONG MEN, another category length in the 50K word range. It features a side character from Model Soldier as a hero and is scheduled to release from Samhain in March 2013. It is a stand alone story, but again, the characters from Model Soldier and from the earlier Red, Hot & Blue stories will make a reappearance.
I’ve been asked if Matt Coleman, the computer god from the series, will get a story. The answer is YES. And so will Commander Hank Miller, as well as bomb expert Bull Ford. These 3 will be shorter stories which will release individually as eBooks first, then be bundled together for print, just as Trey, Jack and Jimmy were. You can always refer to my SERIES READING ORDER page. I try to keep it up to date.
The STUDS IN SPURS series– As you know, FLANKED (Studs in Spurs, Book 5) released in eBook from Samhain this week and has been doing fantastic both in the best seller rankings and with the reviewers. Readers are wondering if there will be more from my professional bull riders. Yes, there will be, I just haven’t decided who will get the next story yet but I’m definitely not done with my cowboys yet so stay tuned…
NEXT– On preorder now and releasing from Kensington Brava in both eBook and Trade Paperback in February is ONE NIGHT WITH A COWBOY, Book 1 in my new OKLAHOMA NIGHTS series. These 3 books will feature heroes who are cowboys, and soldiers, and a cowboy who is a soldier! Novel length, they weigh in at a hefty (hefty for me, anyway!) 80,000 plus words. TWO DATES TO A WEDDING (Book 2) should release later in 2013, and THREE WEEKS WITH A BULL RIDER (Book 3) in early 2014.
To go along with the Oklahoma Nights series, there are 2 novellas which will be released in multi-author anthologies. Coming in July in mass market paperback from Brava will be FISH OUT OF WATER, and it features a side character from One Night With a Cowboy as the hero, along with appearances of the other characters from Book 1. Headlining that anthology is none other than Linda Lael Miller and Jill Shalvis so I’m excited!
AND finally there is TWO FOR THE ROAD. A little hotter than the others since it’s from the spicier Kensington imprint, Aphrodisia, this is a Male/Female/Male threesome story which takes place in the Oklahoma Nights setting. That is coming in a cowboy anthology later in 2013. I haven’t heard who the other authors will be but I’m looking forward to it.
And last but not least, All Romance eBooks put out a call for romance authors to submit their favorite recipe for their PASSIONATE COOKS cookbook. Since you all know I’m a foodie and I have a Recipe Page here at my site, I contributed my recipe for Cheesecake. The cookbook features a whopping 151 recipes from authors. Some are well-known, and some will be new to you. It will be FREE for download at ARe beginning October 1st but you can hop over and preorder it now, and it will be there waiting in your ARe library when you wake up on release day.
So that’s it, that’s all I’ve got for you…for now. Any questions remaining, I’d be happy to answer. Just leave me a comment here. Or you can always catch me on Facebook or Twitter. Now, back to work! Fish Out of Water is due November 1st!!
