Cat Johnson’s page-turning story is evocative of the 70s and the Washington DC of that time. Loved this prequel of sorts to the Hot SEAL series, and look forward to the series itself!

I’ve never read a disappointing Cat Johnson book, so there was a lot of expectation going in here. This is the story of Missy greenwood’s parents, and it’s a story of opposites, with Peter a conservative, quiet senatorial aide, and Marty, an impetuous liberal. The story has it all – protests, terrorists (with a cameo from Idi Amin himself), and the hot SEAL under whose series it appears.

...a ton of action plus some very steamy scenes as Marty and Peter navigate the political climate and their feelings for each other. I definitely want to read more from this series!

As another opposites attract read, the characters were engaging, there was action, suspense, and some steamy scenes as Peter and Marty (Martha) navigate each other and their feelings as well as the political atmosphere.

I loved this story because it is the back story of Missy's parents who we met in Missy and Zane's story in the Hot Seals series and Peter and Marty take us on quite a ride.

I really enjoyed the bit of history in this one, as it's set in 1976 in D.C. and ties in closely with a lot of the political events of the period. I'm old enough to remember that time as current events, so it was refreshing to see the author get all the timeline issues right. A true opposites-attract, Marty and Peter challenged each other yet still connected on a visceral level. A very nice read.

Peter is an up and coming politician and Martha (Marty) is a journalist. She’s quick to judge Peter in her outburst and Peter falls more in love than he already is, and this is only their first meeting! It was refreshing to read about a love story in the 70’s, no technology to connect right away, when you were gone for two weeks, you were gone for two weeks without speaking with each other. The story was sweet until the unexpected happens and then you are on pins and needles. Loved it.

Not going to lie, I had reservations going into this one, new author for me, what seemed like an odd time period, an origin story... But, I loved it! I will look for some full length novels by Cat Johnson.

This is the 1st book I read by Cat Johnson. I loved this book's storyline. The dialogue in this story made me laugh. I loved the hot & steamy scenes. I loved Peter's character. I loved Marty's character. I felt scared for Marty. I loved the ending. Awesome job, Ms. Johnson.

The story is about love, greed, anger and how a person can get caught up in a tragedy by just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It does have a happy ending and I would recommend this book to everyone.

I’ve read a few Cat Johnson books including Saved By A SEAL, so I was excited to read this novella. It is a standalone but tells the story of the parents of Missy Greenwood, Saved By A SEAL’s heroine.

...I enjoyed this exciting story and liked the tiny Missy & Zane teaser at the end.
