Mistletoe Madness Blog Hop ~ CONTEST CLOSED

‘Tis the season for gift giving, and even at this late date I’m sure there are still a few folks out there who have yet to check everyone off their list. Cookbooks for my friends. Non-fiction for my father. Romance for my mother, usually my own print books. A classic selection for the little ones on my list (being a New Yorker who has spent considerable time at the Plaza, Eloise at Christmastime is one of my favorite gifts for a child). >>THE CONTEST HAS CLOSED<< THE WINNER of my prize of a download of A Cowboy for Christmas is cait045 and has been contacted by email. Ho, Ho, Promo Ho – A Cowboy For Christmas

The holidays are coming. I know that even without looking at the calendar. I keep seeing Target’s Christmas ads on TV,Β  Amazon.com is loaded with newly released holiday-themed books, and the Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas starts in about 2 weeks. Apparently I am woefully behind in promoting my holiday-themed books and I can’t have that, now can I?! So here we go, the first of my Christmas books, and not that an author should play favorites but I think this one is definitely mine. It’s A COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS. I love the hero. I love the concept, and I loved writing this novel, proven by how easily the words hit the page. Almost 52,000 words written in just about one month. That’s what happens when I’m confident and in love with an idea. My fingers, and the words, fly. It could also be I wrote it on a crazy tight deadline last November with last year’s Hallmark Countdown to Christmas as my background ‘music’. In fact, I think with the sexy-as-sin love scenes removed to make it G-rated, this book would make the PERFECT made for TV holiday movie. (Hint, hint… anyone have Larry Levinson’s studio phone number? He […]

The infamous fried bologna scene…

What happens when you take one grill ninja, add one inspired romance author… and mix with a BBQ smoked bologna sandwich? You get…I remember it this way… I had just started writing my 83,000 word contemporary western romance, my first for Kensington Publishing, my first of that daunting length, so of course, I was wasting timeΒ networking on Twitter. I’d noticed that one of my new followers had a URL for a restaurant located in Drumright, OK in their Twitter profile bio. So I cruised on over to the website to check it out. My reason being, the book I was working on was set in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I thought it might be fun to have the characters drive to an actual existing establishment for a date. And, the New Yorker in me also needed an example of Oklahoma menu fare, to add realism. Little did I know what would happen next. I checked out the menu at Joseph’s Fine Foods, and made a comment on Twitter that I wasn’t sure even I could make their signature smoked fried bologna sandwich sexy, even if it was “hickory smoked and deep fried and served topped with cheddar cheese”. That began an exchange […]
