Decking the Halls: Christmas at my house

Here’s something you might not know about me–I used to get paid to decorate Christmas trees. Lots of them. Big ones (one that required a 20-foot ladder) and small ones. Real ones and fake ones. It sounds fun, but when you’re on your twentieth tree of the week and you still have your own waiting to be done at home, it gets old fast. What I can say is this, I learned a lot. Such as wired ribbon is your best friend and you can fill up a lot of space in a tree with some nice big bows. (Yes, we made our own bows. Cutting pliers and floral wire lived in my pocket back then.) Silk flowers worked well too, stuck into the branches. Items found in nature are just as good. I became very in tune with what was growing around the homes I was decorating–and even on the drive over. No Juniper, or Holly, or Cedar, or pine bough laden with cones was safe from me and my cutting pliers when I needed texture and filler to decorate with. A little greenery goes a long way. Tie an old stack of books with a bow and shove […]

Ho, Ho, Promo Ho – Nice & Naughty

Another Cat Johnson holiday-themed book is actually 3 in 1. NICE & NAUGHTY – three love stories, three heroes, but all intertwined with one over-arcing theme–sexy firemen raising money for charity by posing nude for a calendar and hosting a bachelor auction. I LOVE old Christmas movies. Christmas in Connecticut starring a young Barbara Stanwyck is probably my favorite of the bunch but I can rewatch these classics every year. The themes inspired me for the stories in this trilogy. If you love the old black-and-white classic holiday movies such as Christmas in Connecticut, Shop Around the Corner (remade with Tom Hanks as “You’ve Got Mail”), and Holiday Inn, you’ll love the three Nice & Naughty stories they inspired. Nice & Naughty ~ a hot holiday trilogy with firemen What’s better than a fireman? Twelve of them, naked, on the pages of your calendar. Secret Recipe: A famous lifestyle maven who secretly can’t cook? Good thing a sizzling hot fireman/calendar model knows his way around the kitchen and is there to rescue her and her charity event from certain disaster. If they detour to the bedroom on the way to the kitchen, even better. Mr. December: When the real December calendar […]

Ho, Ho, Promo Ho – A Cowboy For Christmas

The holidays are coming. I know that even without looking at the calendar. I keep seeing Target’s Christmas ads on TV,  Amazon.com is loaded with newly released holiday-themed books, and the Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas starts in about 2 weeks. Apparently I am woefully behind in promoting my holiday-themed books and I can’t have that, now can I?! So here we go, the first of my Christmas books, and not that an author should play favorites but I think this one is definitely mine. It’s A COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS. I love the hero. I love the concept, and I loved writing this novel, proven by how easily the words hit the page. Almost 52,000 words written in just about one month. That’s what happens when I’m confident and in love with an idea. My fingers, and the words, fly. It could also be I wrote it on a crazy tight deadline last November with last year’s Hallmark Countdown to Christmas as my background ‘music’. In fact, I think with the sexy-as-sin love scenes removed to make it G-rated, this book would make the PERFECT made for TV holiday movie. (Hint, hint… anyone have Larry Levinson’s studio phone number? He […]
