The Week in Review…

Erotic Romance reached a whole new level of exposure this week when erotic author Sylvia Day (who I can say I knew back when) and also “the author who shall not be named” were questions on ABC’s daytime game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Sadly, I knew the answer but could not play from here at home, and the cat, the only one here at the time, was not impressed when I squealed and said “I know her!”. Next up–the Keep Calm and Eat Bologna magnets arrived at Josephs Fine Foods in Drumright, Oklahoma. Let the promo ho-ing begin! For those who missed it, there is a close association between Joseph’s Fried Bologna Sandwich and a certain sexy scene in my up coming release One Night with a Cowboy. Read the story HEREΒ . If you’re near Drumright, stop by and grab one if there are any left. Swag tends to go VERY fast there at Josephs. The “Keep Calm and Eat Bologna” pencils and the Got Heroes? can koozies both flew out the door. One month out from official release and ONE NIGHT WITH A COWBOY is kicking butt on preorder at Barnes & Noble. I discovered I […]

Countdown to One Night with a Cowboy

42 days until the official release of ONE NIGHT WITH A COWBOY, and even though it’s been on preorder at Amazon and BN for a while, and the paperback ARCs (Advanced Review Copies) have been out for review for about a month now, and the digital ARC is going up on Netgalley any day, release day is still the most exciting time for an author. The launch of a new book in a new series with a new publisher is even more so. I’ve already shared an excerpt of the hero and heroine sneaking off to a hotel together, and the hilarity that ensues. You can read that here. I’ve shared the real life story behind the infamous fried bologna sandwich scene here. You can read a portion of that fun, sexy scene on my Facebook Page in the Exclusive Fan Zone. But One Night with a Cowboy didn’t end up to be all fun and sex. The hero is a cowboy, yes, but he’s also a soldier. My non-fiction research for the chapters that take place in Afghanistan took me to a very dark place, and because of that, some of the scenes are deadly serious. I think it’s […]

Classic Romance Tropes – Opposites Attract

A month or so ago I discussed one classic romance theme, the marriage of convenience, and how it has changed over the years even though it still exists and remains a reader favorite. You can read that post HERE. Today, I bring you another classic trope still going strong–opposites attract. This is a major theme in my upcoming release, ONE NIGHT WITH A COWBOY. Tucker is a part-time bull rider and full-time career military man from Oklahoma. He likes big trucks, barbecue beef, a good rodeo, and a nice day of fishing at a peaceful lake. Becca is a native New Yorker and a professor of English. She has a doctorate degree, loves books, wine, shopping, and big city culture. But all things are equal once the clothes come off. The question is, is that enough? A single look at the leggy blonde in the stands and Tucker Jenkins is ready to buck all night long. It’s time to forget all about his cheating ex and his […]
